Venice Beach, CA

Hello #Quickers!

It's a great day, so we are venturing out to Venice Beach, California.

For those of you not from California, Venice Beach is much more than the body builders at Muscle Beach. Our Venice has a neighborhood of canals that stretch blocks and is lined with pretty beach cottages. When we were there today, the tide was looooow.  But we still were able to see all the beautiful bridges and the funky art that the local people displayed.

Look out for our next coloring book and blog........it's all about a day sailing out in the Pacific Ocean! We are very excited, and can't wait to share our next Color Me Quick adventure with you!

Desert X - Palm Springs, CA

IMG_2206.JPG

With the lovely California weather Quickers, CMQ ventured out to the Coachella Valley, not for the music but for the art exhibition called Desert X. This spring the Coachella desert became a canvas with a variety of different art exhibitions. Here at CMQ we became so interested that we decided to pack up and head out so that CMQ could share the experience with you!

Reminder Quickers: Go to your CMQ Member account to print the Desert X coloring pages.

After hours of driving, the first exhibit we viewed was Mirage by Doug Aitken. When arriving at the parking area you could see Mirage far off into the distance. As we walked a bit closer to what seemed like a large mirrored home, we were able to get close enough to where we could finally see our own reflections just a few feet away from the glistening in the walls of the San Jacinto Mountains.  *see the Vimeo video above for an entire view of the Mirage

Desert X has a total of 16 different installations. In the slide show above are the exhibits we enjoyed the most! It took us a few hours to do but we enjoyed the beautiful landscapes of Palm Springs as we traveled along our adventure.

In our slide show you can see the titles of each piece followed by the artists name. We can not wait to see how you all colorize these coloring sheets! Go to your CMQ Member account to print the Desert X coloring pages and most importantly enjoy with color!

What are Thai Coconut Milk Cubes?

To keep the smoothies cold and a creamy consistency we choose to freeze our favorite brand of Thai Coconut Milk. Pour it into an ice cube tray and freeze prior to blending.

Feel free to layer up on fruits to stack and eat in your mason jar as well!

We chose to use blue berries and tangerines. This not only gives the drink a distinct look, but there are many benefits of eating raw fruit, and it's fun. Also, we chose to cut thicker slices of our pineapple and place them at the tops of our smoothies to give them a cute presentation and the best part you can eat it as well. So, put your straws in and drink up!

Here is a fun little snippet video to see how we went about preping our smoothie!

We are excited to see what everyone comes up with! Tag us on at our Instagram account @ColorMeQuickers and use Hashtag #CMQSmoothies so we can see your smoothie creations. Have a delicious and colorful time!

Egg Coloring- For Adults!

Easter is just around the corner again! Though it is very easy to think that this holiday is about Easter baskets, scary Easter bunnies and candy, Easter egg decorating for adults is a very creative and inspiring thing for grownups too. There is always the traditional kit, dipping eggs in the coloring and possibly throw some stickers on it and then be done with it. Here is a different project that we tried here at CMQ that used our skills and brought out the creative and colorful side of you.

Necessary Items:

-          Eggs

-          Nylons

-          Vegetables with skins to make the dye

-          Herbs (like thyme or dill) or flowers

First gather assorted vegetables from your yard, refrigerator or grocery store like onions and beets. To make the dye, peel the vegetables and put the skins and veggies in a pot separately. Add vinegar to each pot and boil down. Boil eggs separately and let them cool.  Cut the nylons about 4 inches, tie up one side in a knot, and place the egg inside. Insert herbs or flowers and tie up the other end. Soak eggs overnight in the veggie dyes. Next day, cut the nylon pouch and remove the egg! Below are what we did! Happy Egg Decorating!
